Water that is rich in electrons is water that has the potential for healing. This is measured by a water's oxidative-reductive potential (ORP). A negative ORP indicates a high antioxidant/healing potential and a positive ORP indicates a high potential for causing inflammation. For comparison, Kangen Water produces water with an ORP of -400mV to -800mV, whereas bottled water can have an ORP of 200-400mV. Water with a negative ORP will be naturally alkaline, however not all alkaline water produces a negative ORP.

Electrolytes assist our body in absorbing water. Mineral-depleted water like distilled or reverse-osmosis water can actually pull minerals from our reserves. Studies show that the minerals we get from our diet don't make up for minerals we miss in our water.
